Elmer Bennett has announced today that he has reached the end of his professional basketball career. He leaves his team Cajasol after four games this season, although he signed a new contract with them during last summer.
Bennett was born in Evanston, Illinois almost 39 years ago (02/13/70) has played in the ACB the last 12 seasons. He played in the NCAA with the Notre Dame University and was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the 38 pick overall in the 1992 draft.
He never played with the Hawks and went to the CBA. Then, after some years there and short stints with NBA teams (Sixers, Rockets, Spurs, Nuggets...) went overseas to play in Italy, Greece and eventually in Spain, where he became a legend.
Twelve seasons with Tau Cerámica, Real Madrid, DKV Joventut and Cajasol, winning a Spanish King's Cup and one FIBA Eurocup. He averaged 11.7 points and 5.1 assists in 361 ACB games played.
