Last week the NBA fined Gilbert Arenas - and the Wizards - for his silence. "Just" $25,000 a piece (he just entered his second season of an $111 million, six-year contract.) Arenas decided not to talk to the media during the preseason. And what's even worse is that he, our favorite blogger, stopped blogging! What the hell! Maybe a bad idea when you are one of most popular players in the league and we don´t even remember the last time we saw you playing.
Arenas said he´ll make us happy again only after the NBA tells him he has to talk. "I'm not the entertainer anymore", declared Arenas. Damn it!
"I don't feel like speaking anymore. I just want to go out there and play. If I'm not going to get fined, I don't think you're going to hear me again. I don't have a blog. I don't have a tweeter. When I was entertaining, all you guys focused on was my words. Now I'd rather you just focus on my basketball." (That would be awesome, man.)
Wizards' spokesman Scott Hall said that neither Arenas nor the team would have any comment on the fines. Are they going to be fined for not commenting on the fines?
After Wizards' 101-98 exhibition victory over Detroit on Tuesday - he scored 24 points - Arenas said just a few words:
"Both teams played hard. I feel fine." For sure he felt fined too...
