It's the new of the day. Ricky Rubio will be included in the list of early entry candidates for the 2009 NBA Draft. According to his American agent the current DKV Joventut player will declare for the next draft.
But it won't be easy. He has a contract with his current club until 2011 and a buy-out clause of about 6 million euros. Just in case he gets drafted in one of the top 3 picks, the deal could be done. NBA franchises cannot pay more than €390.000 for a buy-out, the rest will have to come from Ricky's rookie contract. Nowadays, he is being considered second to Blake Griffin in the Mock Draft predictions.
For the moment, his club has declared that the buy-out clause will be kept as is, with no modifications to ease the departure of their best player to the NBA. Ricky and his agents will have to negotiate this circumstance and decide until up to 10 days before the draft whether to stay or to drop from the early entry candidate list.
